BGN: 16,046 SPPG Units Already Have SLHS to Guarantee Food Safety

Jakarta, VIVA – The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) says it is continuing to strengthen the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme by raising food safety standards, and 55 percent, or 16,046 MBG kitchens, already hold the Sertifikasi Laik Higiene Sanitasi (SLHS). In a statement received from the Government Public Communications Agency (BAKOM RI) in Jakarta on Saturday, based on BGN data, the number of SPPG has continued to rise significantly throughout 2025 to 22 May 2026. The total operational SPPG currently stands at 29,225 units across Indonesia. “As many as 16,046 SPPG have the Sertifikasi Laik Higiene Sanitasi (SLHS) or 55 percent of the total operational SPPG,” the report states. In addition, the government is also accelerating the certification process for thousands of other SPPG units. It was recorded that 2,646 SPPG are currently in the process of SLHS issuance, while another 10,533 SPPG are in the stage of preparing to submit for certification. In strengthening governance of food safety, the government is starting to apply a phased accreditation system for SPPG in 2026 with categories Unggul (A), Sangat Baik (B), and Baik (C). The report also contains data on oversight of SPPG that received a surat peringatan (SP) or has had its operations temporarily suspended. Based on data for the third week of May 2026, the total number of suspended SPPG was 1,152 units. SPPG can resume operations after making improvements. “As of 19 May, the number of suspended SPPG is 1,152 and 3,429 have resumed operations,” the report states. A surat peringatan is issued to SPPG deemed not meeting infrastructure standards, not having a Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL), or not registering for SLHS. (Ant)
