BGN: 13 MBG Nutrition Service Units Operating in Papua Highlands
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has stated that 13 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme are now operating in the Papua Highlands region to help meet the nutritional needs of beneficiaries in the area.
Regional Coordinator for BGN Papua Highlands, Wahyu Adi Pratama, said in a written statement in Wamena on Wednesday that there are currently 13 operational MBG SPPG units.
“We can report that five MBG SPPG units are operating in Jayawijaya Regency, with the remainder spread across several other regencies in the Papua Highlands,” he said.
According to him, the implementation of the MBG Programme in the Papua Highlands region is progressing quite well, although it was temporarily halted some time ago in Jayawijaya Regency.
He explained that the MBG Programme in Jayawijaya Regency and the Papua Highlands in general is continuously being improved to encourage beneficiaries’ interest in consuming the meals.
“The food we serve has certainly undergone proper inspection, particularly regarding its nutritional content and hygiene, making it entirely suitable for consumption by beneficiaries,” he said.
He expressed hope that the MBG Programme will continue to be developed in the future through the addition of more SPPG units across the entire Papua Highlands region, thereby providing a guarantee of good nutrition for beneficiaries.
