Glenn Fredly to perform in Brunei
JAKARTA: One of Indonesia's best pop singers, Glenn Fredly, is scheduled to perform in Brunei Darussalam from Dec. 16 through Dec 18, on top his busy schedule singing for Indonesian fans.
His official website, www.glennfredly.com, reveals that he has 15 concerts in December, three in Brunei and the rest in a variety of cities in Indonesia like Bandung, Padang, Batam and Pontianak.
Glenn was among the list of international singers like Richard Marx, LeAnn Rimes, Chaka Khan and Mick Hucknall, who did a duet with saxophone player Kenny G, who just released his album, At Last The Duets Album, earlier this year.
Glenn, popular for his melancholic love songs like Januari and Kisah Romantis, also composed his own songs.
Known to have a consistently good voice, both in the studio and in live performance, critics said that Glenn may even have outshone Latino singer Enrique Iglesias at a Jakarta gig in April last year. -- JP

Love much easier in the movies: Keaton
NEW YORK: Diane Keaton dated many of her leading men off screen, but she says she prefers to fall in love on screen.
"You know where it's going, and you can just enjoy it for what it is," Keaton tells Time magazine. "Real life is complicated.
Onscreen you know what the lines are. Everybody's doing what they're supposed to do. He's not gonna surprise you."
The 59-year-old actress credits her listening skills in making relationships with Woody Allen, Al Pacino and Warren Beatty work. "I was a good listener. But then that wears off. They get bored," she says.
Keaton plays a mother in the upcoming The Family Stone, about a Manhattan career woman (Sarah Jessica Parker) who gets a cold reception from her fiance's family.
She's not surprised by the lack of sexy roles for women over 50 despite the success of Something's Gotta Give, for which she was nominated for an Oscar.
"It requires somebody who's a good writer who wants to write about that subject," she says. "Who is gonna do that? George Lucas? I don't think so. I'd have to be an alien, a sexy, older alien."

Lee legacy looms large on 65th birthday
HONG KONG: Both Bosnia and Hong Kong, his hometown, unveiled statues of Bruce Lee to mark the 65th birthday on Sunday of the late movie star credited with introducing kung fu to the world.
Strong winds blew off a cloth covering a bronze likeness of a muscular Lee, torso bared, set in a harborside perch against Hong Kong's stunning skyline, as Lee's trademark howl was played over an audio system and white smoke was released.
Fans from as far away as Africa, Britain and Jamaica attended Sunday's unveiling ceremony in Hong Kong.
On Saturday, another Lee statue (shown in photo) was inaugurated in Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina, a war-ravaged city where Lee has been held up as a symbol of unity for Roman Catholic Croats and Muslim Bosniaks, traditionally enemies.
Addressing the crowd at the Hong Kong unveiling late on Sunday, Lee's younger brother, Robert, said, "I think he really deserves this."
Lee soared to stardom in the early 1970s with an intense fighting style and by portraying characters that defended the Chinese and working class against oppressors.
He died of an edema, or swelling of the brain, at age 32 in 1973 in Hong Kong, with just four completed movies under his belt.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board is promoting "Bruce Lee Festival," a weeklong program of movie showings and Lee site visits following the statue's inauguration.
