BFLF distributes cash zakat to victims of Aceh Tamiang flood disaster
Banda Aceh – The Blood For Life Foundation (BFLF) Indonesia distributed humanitarian aid in the form of cash zakat to 70 households of flood victims in Desa Alur Jambu, Aceh Tamiang Regency. “Alhamdulillah, in Ramadan 1447 AH, we were able to distribute zakat amounting to Rp300,000 per household,” said Michael Octaviano, Chairperson of BFLF Indonesia, in Aceh Tamiang, on Thursday. “May this aid bring blessings and ease the burden of our brothers and sisters who remain in evacuation,” he added. He said some residents of Alur Jambu still live in shelters, as their settlements are no longer habitable after the flash floods. “Many have lost their homes and belongings, so they must observe Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in conditions of great constraint,” said Michael. BFLF Indonesia volunteer Muhajir said the moment of distribution at the site was poignant, because the survivors are still struggling to live in shelters. “At the aid distribution site, we directly witnessed how great the hopes of the survivors are in Allah SWT through the hands of good people,” he said. He added that many mothers arrived anxious about the approaching Eid and their lack of a fixed income to meet family needs. Muhajir added that BFLF Indonesia hopes more parties will be moved to provide support for flood-affected areas in Aceh, especially during this holy Ramadan. “May more people be moved to support our flood-affected brothers and sisters so that they can rise again and rebuild their lives,” Muhajir said.
