An indigenous woman leader from Merauke, South Papua, Yasinta Moiwend, popularly known as Mama Sinta, has officially reported two individuals suspected of involvement in the screening of the documentary ‘Pesta Babi’ without her permission to the Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya). The report is registered under number LP/B/3och43/V/2026/SPKT/Polda Metro Jaya, dated 29 May 2026. The case has drawn public attention after Mama Sinta expressed her disappointment and emotional distress over her face and life story being displayed without her consent.

The two individuals reported are Johnny Teddy Wakum and Dandhy Dwi Laksono.

Johnny Teddy Wakum, the Reported Head of LBH Merauke

The first individual reported is Johnny Teddy Wakum, or JTW, who serves as the Chairperson of the Merauke Legal Aid Institute (LBH Papua-Merauke). Mama Sinta’s legal counsel, TS Hamonangan Daulay, clarified that the report is directed at individuals rather than the institution itself. “What we are reporting are individuals. There is the Chairperson of LBH Merauke, initials JTW,” said Hamonangan.

According to the legal team, the report pertains to alleged violations of personal data protection and the unauthorised use of documentation. They are utilising the Personal Data Protection (PDP) Act as the legal basis for the report, specifically citing Articles 65 and 67 of the PDP Law.

Mama Sinta stated she feels exploited by the advocacy process that ultimately led to the production of the documentary. She further noted that she is no longer affiliated with the LBH that previously assisted her regarding indigenous community issues and the opposition to the food estate project in South Papua. “I am no longer part of their LBH; I have made my own decision,” said Mama Sinta.

Dandhy Dwi Laksono Named as Second Reported Party

In addition to the Chairperson of LBH Merauke, Dandhy Dwi Laksono, or DDL, is also named in the report. Dandhy is a well-known director and documentary journalist involved in the production of the film ‘Pesta Babi’. The film has previously sparked significant discussion due to its focus on indigenous community issues and the opposition to the National Strategic Project (PSN) food estate in South Papua.
