Beware when choosing a taxi
Beware when choosing a taxi
From Koran Tempo
When you are in Bali, be careful when taking a taxi. On April
14, 2002, about 3:30 p.m. local time, I took a Ngurah Rai taxi
from Jl. Hayam Wuruk to Jl. Serma Jodog, which is quite a short
distance. I took with me one 24-inch television set, two speakers
and two handbags with a Siemens M35 cell phone inside one of
them. When we reached my destination, I left my things in the
taxi and went inside to get the right amount of money for the
taxi fare.
When I returned to the taxi, I took all my things out of the
car. I thanked the driver and gave him a tip. When I checked my
bag, however, the cell phone was missing.
I immediately contacted Ngurah Rai taxi office and the next
day went to the office because my complaint on the first day was
not followed up.
To my surprise, I was told by W. Widana, the operational
supervisor of the company, that the company had a problem with
the management and that they had received similar complaints from
some other taxi users.
I cannot understand why the company's internal troubles must
become a problem for the passengers. The company in fact is
responsible for maintaining a good reputation and the trust and
satisfaction of the customers. Unless this matter is properly
addressed, the tourist industry in Bali will be adversely
affected.
