Beware! These Are the Emergency Services Most Needed by Mudik Travellers

Jakarta — The Lebaran mudik season has become a busy period for vehicle emergency services. This is also reflected in the data from Garda Oto, Astra Insurance’s specialised vehicle insurance product, which has recorded the most frequently requested emergency assistance from mudik travellers.

“When we talk about emergency services, we handle a considerable volume of towing and recovery requests. There are many accidents. That’s the first issue,” said Laurentius Iwan Pranoto in an interview with Kompas.com at Menara Astra in Jakarta last weekend.

“Second, battery failures are very common. The battery sometimes drops suddenly, rather like a heart attack,” he explained.

“Third is tyres. Tyre bursts and related issues occur frequently,” Iwan added.

This highlights the importance of ensuring all vehicle components are in optimal condition to minimise the risk of breakdowns during travel. However, should such problems occur on the road, Iwan said the company is prepared to assist customers.

“But ensure you provide complete information. Currently, some vehicles do not have spare tyres, so customers should inform us. If a vehicle lacks a spare tyre, we can arrange towing,” he said.

“If they do have a spare tyre, we assist with tyre replacement. If the driver is female, we provide additional manpower as well. We offer this service free of charge to all our customers,” he added.
