Beware of smart Tommy

From Rakyat Merdeka

The central executive board of the Indonesian Prosperous Labor
Association (DPP SBSI) would like to call on President
Abdurrahman Wahid, or Gus Dur as he is popularly called, not to
extend clemency to people involved in graft, such as Tommy
Soeharto and Ricardo Galael.

It is not praiseworthy to extend clemency to such people
because they have siphoned off the state's assets. To SBSI,
corruption committed against the state's assets is tantamount to
betrayal of the state.

If Gus Dur extends clemency to such people, this will only
encourage other people to engage themselves in corruption.

President Gus Dur must take strong measures against
corruptors, particularly the underlings of the New Order because
for 32 years they have looted the assets of the Indonesian
people. SBSI maintains that these people can swiftly cause
evidence of their corruption to disappear.

DPP SBSI supports President Gus Dur in his effort to eradicate
corruption and conduct house-cleaning in the prosecutor's
offices, the courts of law and the police force to ensure that
there will no longer be any bribery in the settlement of
corruption cases. DPP SBSI also appeals to House members to
listen to their conscience when performing their duties and
supports the government in its effort to eradicate corruption and
take action against the perpetrators.
