Beware of Immigration Service Scams and Fake Websites
Indonesian immigration authorities have warned of increasing digital scams, including fake websites, links, social media accounts, and private messages posing as official immigration services. The Directorate General of Immigration urges the public to be vigilant against fraudulent services using counterfeit websites.
Official immigration channels include:
For immigration applications, access information and services exclusively through the Directorate General’s official site at imigrasi.go.id.
For electronic visa services, use evisa.imigrasi.go.id.
Indonesian citizens applying for passports must register via the M Paspor app.
Do not trust websites that mimic the official Immigration website’s name, logo, or appearance to prevent personal data and travel documents from being misused by unscrupulous parties.
Passport Loss or Damage Fees
According to the official Immigration website, routine passport replacements are applicable in the following cases:
Passport validity is expiring (less than six months remaining),
Passport validity has expired,
Passport lost,
Passport damaged during issuance – the issuing immigration office will immediately cancel it,
Passport damaged outside the issuance process (torn, wet, burnt, scribbled, etc.), rendering the contents unclear or unsuitable as an official document – Immigration officials will revoke the passport after an inspection report is drawn up.
Note that passport loss or damage incurs additional fees beyond the standard passport cost:
Passport loss surcharge: Rp1,000,000
Passport damage surcharge: Rp500,000
Passport loss/damage due to force majeure: Rp0 (no charge)
If the inspection determines that a passport was lost or damaged due to:
Disasters such as fires, floods, or earthquakes, immediate replacement is granted;
Negligence or circumstances beyond one’s control, a replacement passport is issued;
Carelessness or negligence with an unacceptable justification, the issuance of a regular passport may be suspended for six months to two years.
