Beware of Hoax Immigration Civil Service Recruitment for 2026 Circulating on Threads
The Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Imipas) has urged the public, particularly internet users, to be vigilant against misinformation and hoaxes regarding the recruitment of prospective civil servants (CPNS) for the Directorate General of Immigration. The ministry has detected hoax content circulating on the social media platform Threads.
The account disseminating the hoax is @informasi.cpns.pppk. The account has been observed actively posting fraudulent announcements about CPNS registration for the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services for the 2026 fiscal year.
The account included photographs of Immigration and Correctional Services Minister Agus Andrianto and Deputy Minister Silmy Karim, as well as ministry staff, in the hoax content. To convince users, the account uploaded artificial intelligence-generated videos and displayed the ministry’s logo alongside the Indonesian Civil Servants Corps (Korpri) logo.
At first glance, the posts on the Threads account appeared complete with qualification requirements and registration timeframes. The account also directed users to access a link displayed on the profile page.
“All posts relating to the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services on that account constitute false information or HOAXES,” the ministry stated firmly in a written statement quoted by detikcom from its official website on Thursday (19 February 2026).
The ministry also noted several discrepancies in the content, namely:
The posts referred to the ‘Ministry of Immigration’, whereas the official nomenclature is the ‘Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services’. Immigration is one of the technical directorates with the official nomenclature of the Directorate General of Immigration.
Neither the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services nor the Directorate General of Immigration has announced any national CPNS selection registration for the 2026 fiscal year to date.
The posts were not published through the official social media channels or website of the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services or the Directorate General of Immigration.

“In conclusion, based on the above explanation, the information circulating about the 2026 CPNS Registration for the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services is an unverifiable hoax. All parties are urged not to access the Threads social media account under the name @informasi.cpns.pppk, including the LINK on that account’s profile,” the ministry wrote.
“All current information regarding the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services and the Directorate General of Immigration can be viewed through the official website and all official social media channels previously mentioned,” the ministry added.
