Beware of Getting Stuck in Traffic: These Are the 3 Peak Dates for the 2026 Eid Return Flow
JAKARTA - The Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, has reminded those returning to Jabodetabek to avoid times predicted to be the peak of the 2026 Eid return flow.
According to Dudy, the peak of the 2026 Eid return flow will occur over three days with different time intervals, namely 24, 28, and 29 March 2026. This was stated by the Transportation Minister while inspecting traffic flow on H+1 of Eid 2026, Sunday (22/03).
“Based on the calculation data we obtained from the Jasamarga Tollroad Command Center (JMTC), the peak return flow is predicted to fall on Tuesday, 24 March 2026, with an estimated volume of more than 285,000 vehicles. This number is larger than the outbound peak on 18 March 2026, which was 270,315 vehicles,” said Dudy in his official statement, Sunday (22/3/2026).
According to him, by avoiding the peak return flow, traffic distribution will be more even, allowing the public to enjoy a more comfortable journey and avoid congestion.
Meanwhile, the Head of the National Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, stated that the peak return flow will occur in three waves, namely on 24, 28, and 29 March 2026.
“We predict those three days will be the peak of the 2026 Eid return flow. We urge the public to avoid those peak times so that the journey proceeds safely, comfortably, and without incident,” said Agus.
The President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Rivan A. Purwantono, invited road users to plan their return journey well and follow government guidance.
Rivan explained that his company has strengthened services on several main toll roads, including optimisation of toll gates, provision of service fleets, situational traffic management, and 24-hour readiness of personnel.
Optimisation of JMTC technology is also continuously carried out to monitor traffic in real-time, supported by the dissemination of information through the Travoy application, Call Center 133, and Radio Travoy FM.
