Beware of Extreme Weather in Jakarta until 29 March, Thousands of Pumps Prepared to Anticipate Flooding

The Jakarta Provincial Government through the Water Resources Agency (SDA) has prepared hundreds of water pumps to anticipate extreme weather expected to occur from 25 to 29 March 2026. Head of the DKI Jakarta SDA Agency, Ika Agustin Ningrum, stated that as of 13 March 2026, there are 668 stationary pump units spread across 243 locations throughout Jakarta. In addition, 537 mobile pump units are also prepared to reach pooling points that cannot be served by stationary pumps. “Based on data as of 13 March 2026, there are 668 stationary pump units spread across 243 locations. As of mid-March 2026, the dredging volume in the five administrative city areas has reached 123,393 cubic metres. This activity has been ongoing since 2 January 2026 and will continue to be expanded to other bodies of water. Ika added that throughout 2025, the total dredging volume reached 919,173 cubic metres. The Jakarta Provincial Government also urges the public to remain vigilant against the potential for pooling during the extreme weather period. In emergency conditions, residents can report incidents via the JAKI application or contact the 112 emergency service.
