Beware of Extreme Weather, Billboard Collapses on Cawang Toll Road

Extreme weather recently struck parts of Jakarta. Drivers are urged to be cautious, as many items have fallen, including trees and billboards.

One such incident is featured in a video that went viral on social media recently. The footage, shared widely, was recorded from inside a Transjakarta (TJ) bus.

“I was on Busway number B51, the fall happened at the Cawang toll road exit, at 16:23 WIB, right when the billboard collapsed. The TJ stopped briefly to assess the situation, then continued. The TJ arrived at its destination safely,” said the owner of the TikTok account @adhajaib, who recorded the video, when contacted by Kompas.com on Monday (13/4/2026).

Panji Satriya, Head of the Marketing & Communication Department at PT Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad, stated that the incident occurred yesterday afternoon, 12 April 2026, when one billboard collapsed and fell onto the toll road.

“But due to bad weather and strong winds, the billboard frame fell towards the toll road. Jasa Marga has coordinated with the advertising bureau to carry out cleanup and evaluation of the existing advertising structures,” he said.

Panji added that last night, at 20:58 WIB, the billboard frame had been successfully moved to the side of the toll road.

In addition to the billboard, fallen trees were also observed at several points on the toll roads, including at KM 8 and KM 10 on the Jagorawi Toll Road towards Bogor, as well as at KM 30 on the Jagorawi Toll Road towards Jakarta. The same occurred on the JORR Toll Road at KM 35 towards Jakarta.
