Beware of Donation Scam Impersonating KPK for Orphans
Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has denied making any donation requests that misuse the names of its leaders or deputies and employ the KPK logo. Such donation requests are being circulated through posters sent via WhatsApp (WA). Regarding this matter, KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo emphasised that the poster is untrue and has no connection to the KPK. “Irresponsible parties are also contacting several regional heads via messaging applications,” he stated in his remarks, quoted on Sunday, 10 May 2026. Budi urged the public to be cautious and always verify information that claims to be from the KPK. He also expressed regret over the misuse of the institution’s identity, which could potentially mislead the public. “We certainly regret the misuse of the institution’s identity like this because it has the potential to mislead the public,” he said. The KPK has affirmed that it will further investigate parties using the KPK’s identity without authorisation and take steps in accordance with applicable provisions. Meanwhile, based on the poster received by tvOnenews, it concerns donations for 300 orphans and includes a bank account number along with the KPK logo.
