Beware of Digital Scams: VIDA Strengthens Identity Protection through Beyond Liveness Campaign
The digital realm has become an inseparable part of daily life for Indonesians. However, as activity in the digital ecosystem grows, so does the risk of falling victim to online scams. In response to this phenomenon, VIDA, as a digital identity network and leading provider of fraud prevention solutions, is committed to ensuring that people’s digital journeys remain safe and smooth.
Recent data highlights the urgent need for stricter digital protection. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) through the Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre (IASC) has recorded a significant surge in reports over the past less than two years.
Scam potentials often emerge in unexpected moments. From short messages offering enticing prizes by impersonating banks (phishing), to the sending of harmful APK files disguised as courier package updates. These tactics are designed to exploit users’ lapses in attention to steal personal data or OTP codes.
VIDA’s Founder & Group CEO, Niki Luhur, explained that although Indonesians have basic awareness of scam dangers, that vigilance often fades when faced with urgent or seemingly very convincing situations.
“In many situations, people actually already know that digital scams are real. However, when the modus operandi that appears feels relevant, attractive, or seemingly beneficial, vigilance can drop in seconds,” said Niki.
As a concrete step in educating the public, VIDA has launched an informative video titled ‘The World of VIDA’. Through their official YouTube channel, VIDA demonstrates how digital identity protection technology works seamlessly behind daily activities, such as conducting banking transactions or signing official digital documents.
Additionally, the ‘Don’t Click Rashly’ campaign is being actively promoted to build new habits in society: pause for a moment, double-check, and avoid immediately clicking on suspicious links.
Facing new technological threats like deepfakes, VIDA is preparing to launch the ‘Beyond Liveness’ campaign. This initiative introduces multi-layered security solutions that surpass mere facial biometric verification (liveness detection).
With this approach, VIDA hopes that digital identity protection will no longer be seen as something complicated, but rather a fundamental need that provides peace of mind for every individual in their activities within Indonesia’s digital ecosystem.
