Satuan Tugas Pemberantasan Aktivitas Keuangan Ilegal (Satgas PASTI) has officially halted the activities of the entity “Magento,” which is suspected of conducting investment fraud. This entity is known to use the modus operandi of impersonation or misappropriating the name of Adobe Inc.’s software product, namely Magento Commerce. Satgas PASTI emphasises that Adobe Inc. is a legitimate multinational software company, but its Magento Commerce product is purely used for e-commerce management and has never engaged in investment offering activities. “Based on verification, Magento does not have a legal entity in Indonesia, and its electronic system is not registered with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia,” stated Satgas PASTI in an official release on Tuesday (12/5/2026). Modus of Deposit Payments and ‘Cashback’ The illegal entity operates a fraud scheme by offering the creation of shop accounts on their platform. Prospective victims are then asked to make deposit payments with promises of sales commissions and cashback. As follow-up action, Satgas PASTI has disconnected access to the related application and links (URL) and coordinated with law enforcement authorities for further action. Members of the public who have become victims are urged to report immediately to their local police. Beware of Impersonation of Foreign Companies In addition to Magento, Satgas PASTI has also identified other entities using similar modus operandi by misappropriating the names of licensed foreign companies, including: The Secretariat of Satgas PASTI, Hudiyanto, advises the public to always be wary of investment offers with illogical high returns, especially those promising commissions from fake e-commerce schemes. “Members of the public who have become victims of financial transaction fraud can report via the Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre (IASC) website at iasc.ojk.go.id to support quick blocking of the perpetrators’ accounts,” he concluded.
