Beware, foreign intervention!

Beware, foreign intervention!

From Media Indonesia

There has been international pressure, particularly from the European Union, the U.S. and Japan, to reopen the representative office of the International Red Cross in Aceh and assign a special UN envoy to Aceh.

The presence of foreign organizations like the Red Cross, the Henry Dunant Center and the UN is frequently benefited from by the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) and the Free Papua Organization (OPM) as part of their campaigns to break away from Indonesia, because such separation requires external recognition.

Meanwhile, the attempts made by GAM and the OPM to gain independence have caused suffering to the people of Aceh and Papua.

A normal and peaceful life is desired by the entire population of Indonesia, especially the Acehnese and Papuans. Only in a normal atmosphere can the two regions develop their resources, while contributing to national unity and integrity.
