Surabaya, CNBC Indonesia - The number of taxpayers who have not yet submitted their annual tax notification letters (SPT) for the 2025 tax year stands at around 3.7 million as of 16 April 2026.

Director of Education, Services, and Public Relations at the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP), Inge Diana Rismawanti, stated that a total of 11.3 million taxpayers have already reported, out of a target of 15 million by the end of April 2026.

“Yes, this is already quite good because usually, many more come in towards the end,” said Inge in Nganjuk, East Java, quoted on Friday (17/4/2026).

April 2026 marks the deadline for individual taxpayers to benefit from the waiver of administrative sanctions for reporting their 2025 annual SPT. Actually, the original deadline for individual taxpayers (WP OP) is March 2026, while for corporate taxpayers (WP Badan), it is April.

This waiver of administrative sanctions is stipulated in DJP Announcement No. PENG-28/PJ.09/2026, referring to the provisions of Law No. 6 of 1983 on General Provisions and Tax Procedures as amended several times, most recently by Law No. 6 of 2023 on the Enactment of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law No. 2 of 2022 on Job Creation into Law.

The waiver of administrative sanctions means no Tax Collection Letters will be issued, either in the form of fines or interest, until 30 April 2026.

“For individuals, we reached the highest number of SPT submissions on 31 March, with 405 SPTs coming in within one day—that was the peak,” said Inge.

Inge is optimistic that SPT reporting will reach 15 million taxpayers by the end of April 2026, bringing the total for the year to 19 million taxpayers who file their SPT.

“Now, our colleagues are focusing on serving those (taxpayers) who report on time. For those who do not submit on time, we will pursue them later,” she said.

“So, around 19 million SPTs should come in by the end of the year. We hope that those who submit on time, meaning until the SPT reporting deadline ends, will be around 15 million,” Inge emphasised.
