Beware! 12 Coastal Areas of Jakarta at Risk of Tidal Flooding
JAKARTA - As many as 12 coastal areas in Jakarta are at risk of being affected by coastal flooding (rob) during the period from 17 to 23 April 2026. Residents living in those areas are urged to increase their vigilance against the potential rise in sea levels. This information was conveyed through the official account @bpbddkijakarta, referring to an early warning from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The combination of these phenomena could trigger higher-than-usual sea tides. Based on monitoring of water level data and tide predictions, tidal flooding is likely to occur in Jakarta’s northern coastal areas. Here are the 12 areas at risk of tidal flooding: BPBD DKI Jakarta urges residents in those areas to anticipate the impacts of maximum sea tides, especially when water levels reach their peak. Additionally, the public is asked to monitor the latest information on sea wave conditions through official government channels. If an emergency occurs, residents can immediately contact the Jakarta Siaga 112 service for assistance. With the potential for rob lasting nearly a week, community preparedness is key to minimising impacts, particularly in coastal areas vulnerable to sea tides.
