Better pay before antigraft drive
Better pay before antigraft drive
From Warta Kota
The government should first promote the welfare of civil servants, soldiers and retired officials if it wishes to succeed in fighting corruption, collusion and nepotism, as former president Abdurrahman Wahid once pointed out.
Though it may seem difficult, if the government is serious in its effort to improve the economic well-being of the entire population, particularly the groups mentioned above, harmony will be achieved in family and bureaucratic environments as the basis for anti-graft action.
In this way, the nation will earn a good reputation in the world, instead of being subjected to ridicule by such countries as Malaysia, because Indonesia is seen as being incapable of managing its own resources.
