Bethsaida Hospital Gading Serpong has officially introduced the 3.0 Tesla (3T) SIGNA Hero MRI scanning system, AI-based, from GE HealthCare. The latest-generation scanning system is claimed to deliver crisper imaging, faster examination times, and a more comfortable experience for patients. The innovation represents a strategic move for the hospital to strengthen modern diagnostic services amid rising demand for precise and efficient medical examinations. Kriswanto Trimoeljo, CEO of GE HealthCare Indonesia, said the system can cut examination times by up to 50% compared with conventional technology. ‘AI technologies such as Sonic DL and AIR Recon DL can significantly improve image quality, speed up the examination, and provide a better patient experience,’ Kriswanto said at the launch of the 3 Tesla MRI at Bethsaida Hospital Gading Serpong, Tangerang, on 21 May 2026. The technology is also claimed to produce images up to 60% sharper than conventional MRI. With better visualisation detail, clinicians can evaluate and decide therapies more precisely. He also hopes the arrival of this device will encourage more people to have health checks at Indonesian hospitals rather than abroad, noting that given the current conditions, it is important for the public to examine their health in Indonesia and help the nation’s foreign exchange. In the same event, Margareth Aryani Santoso, Director of Bethsaida Hospital Gading Serpong, said the innovation is part of the hospital’s commitment to delivering healthcare with state-of-the-art technology and modern, consumer-oriented service standards for people in Tangerang and surrounding areas. ‘We continue to strengthen medical facilities through the utilisation of the latest diagnostic technologies that support accuracy, speed, and patient safety,’ Margareth said. She explained that the 3 Tesla SIGNA Hero MRI is designed to assist in handling a range of complex cases, from neurological conditions such as stroke and brain tumours, to heart disease, orthopaedic cases, and oncology requiring high-detail imaging. One of the main advantages of this device lies in the AI technologies embedded through AIR Recon DL and Sonic DL. These technologies enable crisper images while speeding data acquisition, including for moving organs such as the heart. Meanwhile, Bethsaida Hospital Gading Serpong Radiology Specialist Dr Thio Ananda Steven explained the MRI 3 Tesla can be used to help evaluate various medical conditions. In neurology, for example, the device can assist in detecting stroke, brain tumours, epilepsy, nerve disorders, pinched nerves, and spinal abnormalities. In cardiology and vascular medicine, the MRI 3 Tesla can be used to observe cardiac structure and function, myocardial disease, inflammation, valve abnormalities, past heart attacks, and certain congenital heart conditions. In orthopaedics, the technology also supports examination of joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, cartilage, sports injuries, ACL tears, meniscal injuries, and back pain. ‘With the 3 Tesla MRI backed by AI technology, imaging results can be obtained with more detail and assessment can be performed more efficiently without compromising patient comfort,’ Steven said. In addition to focusing on diagnostic quality, Bethsaida Hospital is also seeking to improve patient comfort during MRI scans. One longstanding challenge with MRI has been claustrophobia due to narrow bore. To address this, the SIGNA Hero MRI features a bore diameter of 70 cm, offering a more spacious feel during the scan. Iwan A. Setiawan, Director of Sales, Marketing & Business Development at Bethsaida Healthcare, said the investment in this medical technology is part of strengthening the Bethsaida Healthcare ecosystem overall. He added that the presence of such advanced diagnostic equipment is expected to support collaboration among specialist physicians in determining the best therapy for patients. With increasingly modern and integrated diagnostic services, Bethsaida Hospital hopes Indonesians can access high-quality healthcare domestically without needing to seek treatment abroad.
