Betawi painting expo

JAKARTA (JP): In conjunction with the 469th anniversary of Jakarta, the Omni Batavia Hotel is holding a Betawi Painting Exhibition by city painter Sarnadi Adam.

The exhibition will take place in the Pre-function Batavia Ballroom, on the second floor of Omni Batavia Hotel, Jl. Kali Besar Barat, West Jakarta.

Sarnadi Adam, who was born 40 years ago in Simprug village, will show 40 of his paintings. Most of his works portray the past and present life of native Jakartans, or the Betawi people. His paintings express his knowledge of and experiences with his people.

After this exhibition, Sarnadi will exhibit his works in Argentina. He has already had solo exhibitions in several European and American countries.

The Betawi Painting Exhibition will be opened on June 1 at 10 a.m. by Fauzi Bowo, head of the City Tourism Office.

The exhibition is open to public until June 15, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (24)
