Betawi Ornaments to Be Installed in Blok M to Pasar Baru

Jakarta - The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has revealed that the installation of Betawi ornaments will soon begin at several strategic locations across Jakarta. These locations include Blok M, Pasar Baru, Chinatown Glodok, and several advertising billboards.

“It will start soon, as the budget was only allocated this year for 2026. So, in the future, even some advertising billboards, district boundaries, and main places such as Blok M, Pasar Baru, Chinatown Glodok, and others, will feature Betawi ornaments,” said Pramono Anung at the MH Thamrin Museum, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (15 February 2026).

Pramono also desires the unity of all elements of the Betawi community council in the Lembaga Adat Betawi. He targets this to be completed this year. “In the name of God, it will be finished as soon as possible,” he said.

The Chairman of the Betawi Community Council and former Governor of Jakarta, Fauzi Bowo (Bang Foke), warmly welcomed Pramono’s plan to install Betawi ornaments. Foke described the plan as a golden opportunity provided by Pramono for the Betawi people. “I may add a little, Mr Governor. What was asked earlier about the ornaments, that’s in general. This is a golden opportunity given by the Governor to the Betawi people. So, if the Betawi people cannot take advantage of this, it’s not his (Pramono’s) fault, it’s not the provincial government’s fault, it’s the Betawi people’s fault,” said Foke. “Therefore, I urge that before we proceed further, first: unite and unite. Then, we can formulate strategies going forward to respond to what the Governor expects. God willing, it will be accepted,” he added.
