JAKARTA — The 2026 Betawi Lebaran is set to return and become a magnet for residents of Jakarta and surrounding areas.

For three days, from 10 to 12 April 2026, Lapangan Banteng in Central Jakarta will be filled with a variety of Betawi arts, cuisine, and traditions in one grand event.

The event is organised by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government together with the Badan Musyawarah (Bamus) Betawi and the Majelis Kaum Betawi.

Riano invites the public to join in livening up this annual event as a form of support for preserving Betawi culture amid Jakarta’s diversity.

“We invite Abang and Mpok as well as all residents to liven up and enliven this event,” he said.

The celebration serves as a manifestation of preserving customs as well as an opportunity for cross-community bonding in Jakarta.

The Secretary General of DKI Jakarta, Uus Kuswanto, emphasised the important meaning of the celebration.

“Betawi Lebaran is not just a celebration, but a momentum to strengthen unity, togetherness, and to preserve Betawi cultural values as Jakarta’s identity,” said Uus.

The 2026 Betawi Lebaran series will run from Friday to Sunday with various cultural activities:

Visitors can also enjoy a local UMKM bazaar, which is expected to encourage community economic growth.

“Although there are some reductions due to the current global concerns and budget efficiency, Betawi Lebaran will still be held solemnly without reducing the substance and spirit of bonding to strengthen unity,” said Ali.

The committee targets around 20,000 visitors, including international tourists.
