Betawi Jali-Jali Dance Breaks MURI Record at IICF
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Semarak Jali-Jali Betawi dance, involving 2,713 dancers from 12 countries at the Indonesia International Culture Festival (IICF) 2026, held at the Symphony of the Sea area, Ancol Taman Impian, North Jakarta, on Saturday, has broken the Museum Rekor Indonesia (MURI) record.
“Ancol supports the organisation of IICF 2026 as a collaborative platform to package the richness of Nusantara traditions creatively and authentically,” said Daniel Windriatmoko, Corporate Communication of PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol Tbk, in Jakarta on Saturday.
He stated that IICF 2026 features thousands of participants from both domestic and international locations, including the United States, Russia, Poland, Mongolia, South Korea, India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, and Indonesia.
This year, in its fifth iteration, the international festival highlights the spirit of cultural preservation, diversity, and sport.
“This activity is also expected to increase public awareness of cultural wealth, particularly among students,” said Daniel.
Furthermore, the event includes the International Beach Parade Competition, Solo Dance Competition, and a Bazaar & Multi-Product showcase for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) on Sunday (13/9).
“We have also brought in international judges from the International of Folklore Festivals Organization (IOFF),” Daniel added.
This simultaneously strengthens Indonesia’s position as a global cultural destination and reinforces Jakarta’s position as an international cultural centre.
Daniel also emphasised that Ancol supports the hosting of IICF 2026 as a collaborative space to present the richness of Nusantara traditions in a creative and authentic manner.
According to him, the presence of this festival aligns with Ancol’s mission to create a social environment that provides high-quality entertainment through elements of art, culture, and knowledge.
“Additionally, this is a manifestation of Ancol’s commitment to continue developing as a world-class destination that provides an educational and positive cultural experience for the entire community,” Daniel added.
