The Director General of Correctional Services at the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Imipas), Mashudi, stated that two prisoners involved in the tin mining corruption case, Ahmad Albani and Hasan Tjhie, are also being investigated regarding a luxury cluster at Cibinong Prison. Both are being questioned by a team from the Indonesian Ombudsman.

“We are seeking information from two inmates, Ahmad Albani and Hasan Tjhie, who were identified by the Ombudsman and were located in the SAE (Assimilation and Education Facility) area,” Mashudi said during a meeting at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, South Jakarta, on Monday (28/9/2026).

Ahmad Albani is a convict in the PT Timah corruption case. In 2024, he was sentenced to five years in prison by the Jakarta Corruption Court, a sentence which was later increased to 10 years by the Jakarta High Court in February 2025.

Similarly, the sentence for convict Hasan Tjhie was also increased to 10 years in prison by the Jakarta High Court in 2025, after initially receiving a five-year sentence from the Jakarta Corruption Court in 2024.

Mashudi added that six officers from Cibinong Prison have currently been interrogated. The results of these examinations are being further scrutinised by a team formed by the Directorate General of Correctional Services (Ditjenpas).

“The six prison officers being examined are Mr Gusti (KPLP), Mr Ricky Robby (Head of Community Development), Adi Nugroho (Head of Unit), and Messrs Naufal, Hendra, and Wahyu from the Security and Surveillance unit,” he said.

When asked why the two tin corruption convicts were present in the SAE area, Mashudi noted that the matter is still under investigation. He could not yet provide a conclusion as the investigation is ongoing.

“We will report back later. Everything is being examined by our joint team, including the Inspectorate General and the Correctional Services. We will provide an update this Thursday. We cannot draw conclusions until the results of the examination clarify the situation,” said Mashashi.

During the parliamentary meeting, Mashudi also mentioned that the prisoner Ferdy Sambo has been questioned regarding the discovery of the luxury cluster at Cibinong Prison. A total of 55 inmates have been interrogated by officials.

“The Intelligence and Security Directorate and the National Security Directorate have interrogated 21 inmates in the SAE area, 33 inmates involved in corruption cases, and one inmate, Ferdy Sambo, regarding a general criminal case,” Mashudi stated.

Five Cibonong Prison Officials Suspended

Previously, the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services suspended five structural officials at the Class IIA Cibonong Prison. The suspended officials include the prison warden (Kalapas), the head of prison security (KPLP), the head of guidance and education, the head of security and order, and the head of general affairs.

The suspension of these five officials was announced by the Inspector General of the Ministry, Rudi Setiawan, on-site. Rudi conducted an inspection of Cibonong Prison throughout the day following orders to lead the investigation on behalf of the Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Agus Andrianto.

“Under the direction and orders of the Minister, we are acting as the internal investigators for the Ministry. He has instructed us to collaborate with the Director General of Correctional Services to follow up on the findings made by the Ombudsman,” Rudi told reporters at the location on Saturday (26/9).

Rudi stated that the five officials were suspended pending investigation, as they were deemed responsible for the findings reported by the Ombudsman.

“We have suspended five structural officials suspected of being responsible for the events discovered by the Ombudsman. Specifically, we have suspended the prison warden, the head of security, the head of guidance, the head of security and order, and finally, the head of general affairs responsible for state property,” said Rudi.

Rudi reaffirmed that Minister Agus has provided clear directives regarding any violations. He noted that various disciplinary actions would be taken based on evidence of misconduct.

“We will investigate everything. The Minister’s direction is very clear and firm: if there are violations, we have regulations, we have a code of ethics, and we have disciplinary sanctions. We have suspended them and will conduct an investigation into how these conditions came to be discovered,” concluded Rudi.
