Besakih Temple Management Prepares Reserve Parking Lots for IBTK Ceremony
The Besakih Sacred Area Management Agency is preparing several reserve parking lots. This is to anticipate the overflow of worshippers (devotees) to Pura Agung Besakih during the Ida Bhatara Turun Kabeh (IBTK) ceremony.
The Head of the Besakih Sacred Area Management Agency, I Gusti Lanang Muliarta, stated that several reserve parking lots will be used if the main parking areas in Kedungdung and Manik Mas are full.
“This is just a precautionary measure; besides the fields, there are also private community parking lots. There will be officers to direct them,” said Muliarta on Sunday (29/3/2026).
The parking mechanism during the 2026 IBTK Ceremony will place large vehicles and buses in the Kedungdung parking area. The devotees will then be transported entirely using shuttle buses to Manik Mas. For devotees who do not want to queue for long, they can use motorbike taxis in the area.
Meanwhile, small cars and motorbikes will be placed in the Manik Mas parking area. If that parking area is full due to the influx of arriving devotees, the agency has prepared reserve parking.
To avoid congestion, the agency also urges the public who will worship not to park haphazardly on the roadside leading to Pura Agung Besakih. If caught, they will be warned by officers.
“I hope that during this year’s IBTK Ceremony, parking issues can be resolved, so that the event can run safely and smoothly,” said Muliarta.
It is known that the 2026 IBTK Ceremony will involve continuous worship (nyejer) for 21 days. The peak will take place on Thursday (2/4/2026), and the closure or penyineban will be held on Thursday (23/4/2026).
