Berau to Use National Family Day as Momentum to Strengthen Family Resilience

The Berau Regency Government, which will host the 33rd National Family Day (Harganas) for East Kalimantan Province in 2026, is making this event a momentum to strengthen family resilience, from health to the economy. “Berau has been trusted by East Kalimantan Province to be the host, so make this momentum also to increase public awareness about the importance of building healthy, happy, and prosperous families,” said Berau Regent Sri Juniarsih Mas in Tanjung Redeb on Tuesday. The implementation of this momentum includes focusing on encouraging families to meet nutritional needs through quality food consumption, including fish and eggs, which can be an important source of protein for children’s growth and development, while preventing stunting. For this reason, she said, the cheap fish market that was once held and received a positive response from the public will be held again in Tanjung Redeb during the East Kalimantan Provincial Harganas commemoration, which will take place in about four days. She also reminded the local Cooperatives, Industry and Trade Office (Diskoperindag) to open space for MSMEs and creative economy players to exhibit and promote regional superior products. Then the Community and Village Empowerment Office (DPMK) is to prepare various products produced by villages and from Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMKam), because this event is an opportunity to introduce the potential of each village. “Activities during Harganas include communal exercise, contraceptive device services, general health checks, mental health checks, MSME trade fairs, cheap basic food markets, and exhibitions of Population Alert School (SSK) craftwork,” she said. MSME and BUMKam products, she said, can be placed in the MSME trade fair or cheap basic food stalls, so that various products from women farmer groups, such as organic vegetables and local food, can also be exhibited. This means the Harganas momentum, besides supporting local economic empowerment, is also expected to expand the market, because the event will be attended by participants from all regencies/cities in East Kalimantan. The Regent also stressed the importance of the committee’s preparation focus to make the upcoming event a success, so that coordination and cooperation from all parties are important to make Harganas a success. “Collaboration and mutual support between one agency and another and with various related parties will ensure that organisational needs can be met without sacrificing quality,” said the Regent.
