Tanjung Redeb, East Kalimantan (ANTARA) – The Berau Regency Government is involving around 170 traders in Berau Expo 2026, which will run from 16 to 25 October at Lapangan Pemuda and Graha Pemuda Sports Hall in Tanjung Redeb. The event aims to stimulate economic activity in the community and promote the region’s potential.

“Through the booths and stalls provided by the organisers, businesses and communities have the opportunity to introduce their products and services, while also creating opportunities for business development partnerships,” Berau Regent Sri Juniarsih Mas said in Tanjung Redeb on Saturday.

Government agencies have also prepared exhibition booths, where they are presenting their programmes, achievements and development progress to the public throughout the event.

The 170 traders taking part will occupy 70 large tents and 100 street-vendor stalls. Their presence complements an exhibition that provides a platform to promote local products, public services, tourism, investment and the creative economy.

Berau Expo 2026 is themed “A Growing Economy, a Preserved Culture, a Prosperous Berau”. It involves 106 exhibitors, comprising 33 regional government agencies, state-owned and regional-owned enterprises, 13 sub-districts, and 60 general participants from businesses, community associations, women’s organisations, youth organisations and other communities.

Sri Juniarsih encouraged residents to attend and support local products and creativity, so that micro, small and medium-sized enterprises can grow and the regional economy can improve.

“The Berau Expo exhibition is an opportunity for the public to learn more about the regional government’s development programmes, as well as the many forms of potential found across Berau,” she said.

To improve the quality of the exhibition, organisers are assessing the booths according to three criteria: service, creativity and innovation, and cleanliness and tidiness.

Several regional government agencies are also holding competitions for visitors, with attractive prizes. The activities provide a way for government agencies and the public to interact, while introducing government programmes and services.

Berau Expo also features cultural performances and entertainment across two stages, located at Lapangan Pemuda and Graha Pemuda Sports Hall.

“We hope this annual event will broaden the promotion of the region’s potential, help preserve its arts and culture, and provide businesses and the public with opportunities to increase economic activity during the exhibition,” the regent said.
