Beratha to seek reelection

DENPASAR, Bali: Bali Governor Dewa Made Beratha has registered
for the gubernatorial election, a committee member said on
Wednesday.

Gde Indria, a member of the gubernatorial election, said
Beratha had submitted his registration form before the deadline
on Wednesday.

Beratha will run against former Indonesian Bank Restructuring
Agency (IBRA) chairman Putu Ary Suta, IGN Santoso, I Gede Wiratha
and Anak Agung Ngurah Oka Ratmadi.

The committee has also received forms from Usdek Maharipa, I
Gusti Bagus Yudhara, Wayan Nuastha, Wayan Suwandi, I Ketut Robin,
I Gede Ngurah Wididana and Putu Agung Suradnyana, who will run
for the deputy gubernatorial position.

Eligible candidates will be announced on June 30 following an
administrative examination. All factions at the legislature will
be given time between July 2 and July 10 to select their
gubernatorial candidates and running mates.

The date for the election has not been decided yet. -- Antara
