Benny Moerdani hospitalized
JAKARTA: Former Indonesian Military (TNI) chief Gen. (ret) L.B. Moerdani, 74, has been hospitalized for heart problems at Gatot Subroto Army hospital since last Thursday.
According to an official at the hospital, Benny's condition was deteriorating.
"He is currently under the care of a medical team," said the official, who declined to be named.
Benny, also a former defense minister, has often been linked with the bloody Tanjung Priok shooting in 1984, in which dozens of demonstrators were killed.
The case is currently being heard by an ad hoc human rights tribunal. Moerdani, who was then TNI chief, has escaped prosecution. -- JP
