Bengkulu's Ministry of Law and Human Rights takes proactive steps to protect UMKM works in Kaur Regency
Bengkulu – The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Bengkulu has taken proactive steps to protect the works and innovations of UMKM actors in Kaur Regency through the Mobile Intellectual Property Clinic service. “The presence of intellectual property services in public spaces like this is our real effort to broaden education and access for the community,” said Zulhairi, Head of the Bengkulu Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, in Bintuhan, on Saturday. He added that the initiative is hoped to spur a surge in registrations for intellectual property protection of locally outstanding products, which, in turn, will strengthen the foundation of the creative economy in Kaur Regency. The Bengkulu Regional Office organised the service through Festival Gurita 2026, which was held in conjunction with the 23rd anniversary of Kaur Regency at Merdeka Field in Bintuhan, Kaur Regency. As a form of support for the promotion of local culture and tourism, the Intellectual Property Service Division of the Bengkulu Regional Office also presented the “PELA KITO” service, which provides direct access to IP consultations and assistance to the public. Through the program the public can obtain consultations, assistance, searches, and guidance for the registration of trademarks, copyrights, patents, and industrial designs. The service team explained that the mobile intellectual property clinic’s presence aims to increase public awareness of the importance of legal protection for works, innovations, and products produced to support the regional creative economy. Public enthusiasm was evident from the crowded visits to the PELA KITO stand during the festival. Business actors and residents used the opportunity to consult on the procedures for trademark registration and protection of local products of Kaur Regency. Zulhairi said the presence of intellectual property services at various regional agendas is a strategic step to broaden public access to legal services while also promoting a strengthened creative economy based on intellectual property protection. The Bengkulu Regional Office of the Ministry of Law commits to continuing the PELA KITO service at various strategic agendas and public venues in Bengkulu Province by strengthening collaboration with local governments to create a legally protected environment for a creative economy.
