Bengkulu victims say no more noodles
Bengkulu victims say no more noodles
From Neraca
A short time ago I went to Bengkulu as a member of a committee
assigned to channel donated money to earthquake victims there.
Most of the victims I met told me that they no longer needed
instant noodles but building materials.
"We have had several bouts of diarrhea because of eating too
many noodles. If you don't want to donate to us what we really
need, this does not matter. But, please, no more instant
noodles," they said to me.
Donations should be extended directly to the people needing
the building materials. Village heads are now reluctant to
channel donations because they are afraid of being accused of
misappropriating the funds.
In short, the earthquake victims in Bengkulu really need
building materials. If you find it difficult to send these
materials, just let them have the money. But please do not send
them any more instant noodles.
