Bengkulu University to Integrate Foreign Students into Regular Classes
Bengkulu (ANTARA) – Bengkulu University (Unib) will integrate foreign students admitted in 2026 with Indonesian students in regular classes.
“These foreign students will not be in international classes; they will join our existing regular classes,” Unib Rector Prof Indra Cahyadinata said in Bengkulu on Thursday.
He said foreign students would first receive language training before attending classes with Indonesian students. Unib has an academic language support unit to help them develop the language skills needed to take part in learning on campus.
According to Indra, foreign students in regular classes would be able to interact directly with Indonesian students in academic activities on campus.
To support them during their studies, the university will provide mentors when they are placed in their chosen study programmes and while they take part in campus life.
Indra said the arrangement was part of Unib’s efforts to provide foreign students with the same academic experience while broadening interaction between students from different countries and Indonesian students.
Unib received 25 foreign students in 2026, who arrived in two groups. They come from several countries, including Pakistan, Vietnam and Thailand.
The university provides accommodation for foreign students in a dormitory on campus. It also assists with their travel from their home countries, including plane tickets and visa matters.
