Bengkulu (ANTARA News) - The regional government of Bangkulu province is planning to build a dockyard at Pulau Baai port in an effort to increase its income from the port services sector, a local official said.

"We are planning to build a dockyard and other facilities at Pulau Baai seaport area so that the regional government would obtain an income from the port service sector," Head of Transportation Service of Bengkulu, Ali Berti said here on Wednesday.

He said that so far the regional government had not yet earned an income from the Pulau Baai port service sector. The development of various facilities such as docking yard could provide service for fishermen to repair their boats.

"So far fishermen of Bengkulu repair their vessels at a dockyard in Sibolga, North Sumatra," he said.

He said that the development of a dockyard at Pulau Baai port could help fishermen reduce their costs while providing an income for the regional government.
