Bengkulu needs more prosecutors

BENGKULU: The Bengkulu Prosecutor's Office said on Saturday it was too understaffed to handle its caseload.

The head of the prosecutor's office, Zaidan Asnawi, said there were only 60 prosecutors in his office and the local district prosecutor's office, while the ideal number of prosecutors for the province was 100.

More prosecutors would allow the office to reduce its backlog of cases, which has long been the target of public criticism. -- Antara
