Bengkulu Food and Drug Authority Intensifies Processed Food Supervision During Ramadan
Bengkulu City (ANTARA) — The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) in Bengkulu is currently intensifying its supervision of processed food products during Ramadan 1447 Hijriah/2026 to ensure that food products are safe and of sufficient quality for public consumption.
“We are intensifying the supervision of processed food products during the holy month of Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. The intensification of food supervision during Ramadan is a routine national agenda carried out simultaneously by BPOM across Indonesia,” said Bengkulu BPOM Head Kodon Tarigan in Bengkulu City on Sunday.
The supervision is being conducted, he said, because consumption of processed food during Ramadan increases significantly, particularly for iftar food products, Ramadan hampers, and other food necessities.
He stated that the supervision is aimed at ensuring that food products circulating in the community are safe, of good quality, and fit for consumption.
Based on preliminary inspection results conducted over recent weeks, Bengkulu BPOM has not found any expired processed food products, products without distribution permits, or products that fail to meet safety and quality standards.
However, the agency did identify administrative violations, which have been followed up with guidance provided to the business operators concerned.
He said Bengkulu BPOM is not only conducting supervision at the distributor level but also targeting modern retail outlets, traditional markets, and storage warehouses.
“Bengkulu BPOM will continue to carry out supervision on an ongoing basis, not only during Ramadan but throughout the year,” said Kodon Tarigan.
The agency is committed to ensuring that every processed food product circulating in Bengkulu Province is safe, of good quality, and beneficial to the public.
With this intensified supervision, Kodon expressed hope that the public can observe the fasting period with peace of mind, free from concerns about the safety of the food they consume.
