Bengkulu firms ready to pay bonuses

BENGKULU: None of the companies in Bengkulu have refused to give their workers Idul Fitri bonuses, said a senior government official on Friday.

"The data is refreshing. The bonus is important to the workers as it allows them to enjoy the Idul Fitri holiday. The bonus is also a token of appreciation for the workers, who have been working hard the whole year," said Hamsyir Lair, the chief of the Bengkulu Manpower Office.

The Idul Fitri bonus is usually the equivalent of one month's basic salary.

There are 1,035 companies with some 35,000 workers in the regency. -- Antara
