Bengkayang Regency Finalises Preparations for Free Nutritious Meals Programme in Remote Areas
The Bengkayang Regency government, West Kalimantan, is finalising preparations for the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in remote, frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) areas within the region.
Bengkayang Regent Sebastianus Darwis stated that his administration, along with the MBG Task Force Team, has consulted with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to ensure readiness for the programme’s implementation, including infrastructure support and technical execution in the field.
“This step is crucial to ensure the MBG programme runs effectively, on target, and is able to address the challenges of fulfilling community nutrition, especially in 3T areas,” said Sebastianus Darwis in Bengkayang on Sunday.
In the recent meeting with BGN, the regency government consulted on various aspects, from nutritious food distribution mechanisms and operational standards for the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit Kitchen (SPPG) to strategies for reaching areas with limited access.
The regency government also mapped several field challenges, such as limited transportation access, geographical conditions, and human resource readiness, which pose obstacles to the programme’s implementation in 3T areas.
“Following the consultation, the Bengkayang Regency government and BGN have formulated follow-up steps to optimise the programme’s execution, including strengthening synergy between central and local governments,” he said.
Sebastianus hopes that with thorough preparations, the MBG programme in Bengkayang Regency can operate at full capacity and deliver tangible impacts in improving community nutrition quality and supporting welfare enhancement for residents in remote areas.
The Regent also reaffirmed his commitment to continuously monitor the programme’s implementation to ensure it is on target and sustainable, in line with government efforts to accelerate development in 3T zones.
