The distribution of dried shelled corn from Bengkayang Regency to the Bulog warehouse in Singkawang, facilitated by the Bengkayang Police, has reached 618.852 tonnes from 2025 up to June 2026. This effort is part of a push to support the absorption of farmers’ harvests and strengthen food security. Bengkayang Police Chief AKBP Syahirul Awab stated that this week alone, 31.3 tonnes of dried shelled corn were dispatched in three separate deliveries. “The corn sent originates from the Sanggau Ledo and Samalantan areas, as well as the drying facility of PT Pangan Merah Putih (PMP) in Bengkayang District, before being transported to the Bulog warehouse in Singkawang,” he said in Bengkayang on Friday. He explained that assistance to farmers is provided from the cultivation and post-harvest stages through to the marketing of the harvest to ensure the commodity is well absorbed. “Through synergy with Bulog and processing partners, we hope the community’s agricultural produce can be optimally absorbed, thereby providing economic value for farmers,” he said. The corn sent is a hybrid variety with an average moisture content of 13 per cent and an aflatoxin level of around 42 parts per billion (ppb), meeting Bulog’s purchase requirements at a price of Rp6,400 per kilogram. Throughout 2025, the Bengkayang Police facilitated the distribution of 425.304 tonnes of dried shelled corn to the Bulog branch in Singkawang. Meanwhile, up to the 20th delivery in 2026, the volume of corn distributed reached 193.548 tonnes. With this achievement, the total corn distribution facilitated by the Bengkayang Police from 2025 to June 2026 amounts to 618.852 tonnes. The Police Chief expressed hope that the sustainable absorption of harvests would provide market certainty for farmers while supporting the national food security programme through strengthened partnerships between farmers, Bulog, and agricultural processing businesses. Head of the Bulog Singkawang Branch, Noldi Ramayadi, confirmed that Bengkayang Regency is the area with the largest corn absorption by Bulog in its working region during 2026. Based on data from the Bulog Singkawang Branch, the realisation of corn absorption from January to June 2026 reached 201,800 kilograms from Bengkayang Regency, higher than Sambas Regency with 172,300 kilograms and Singkawang City with 84,350 kilograms. “Indeed, the largest amount comes from Bengkayang,” Noldi said.
