JAKARTA (RA) – Bengkalis Regent Kasmarni, together with Riau Governor Abdul Wahid and all regional heads across Riau Province, held an audience with Minister of Investment and Head of BKPM Rosan Perkasa Roeslani at the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries/BKPM office in Jakarta on Monday (5/5/2025).

The meeting aimed to strengthen central-regional relations in accelerating development, investment, and the downstream processing of natural resources across each region, including Bengkalis Regency.

During the meeting, the Riau Governor proposed the construction of a logistics railway as a solution to road damage caused by mining trucks, as well as an effort to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

Meanwhile, Regent Kasmarni directly presented various key potential sectors in Bengkalis Regency that are open for investor development, including marine and fisheries, agriculture, renewable energy, and Malay culture-based tourism.

"We are ready to welcome investment into Negeri Junjungan. The Bengkalis Regency Government continues to improve the investment climate, simplify licensing, and build supporting infrastructure," said Kasmarni.

The Regent also emphasised the importance of support from the Ministry of Investment in promoting downstream processing of local products. She noted that many of Bengkalis's natural resources have thus far only been sold as raw materials without added value.

"We want to transform from a raw material-producing region into one with downstream industries. For this, we greatly need assistance, promotion, and ease of access from the central government," she said.

Kasmarni also highlighted the need for investor-friendly regulations and an integrated investment support system so that business operators would not hesitate to invest in Bengkalis Regency.

"We remain committed to being an investment-friendly and sustainable region. All of this is for the welfare of the people," she affirmed.

Investment Minister Rosan Perkasa Roeslani expressed his appreciation for the proactive steps taken by the Riau Provincial Government and regional heads in advancing investment-based development.

"Investment must be built on close cooperation between central and regional governments. Riau has set a good example, and we are ready to support the follow-up from this meeting," said Rosan.

He also mentioned that his ministry would follow up on the various proposals submitted, including technical visits to the regions to directly assess the investment opportunities on offer.
