Bengkalis Police Seize 8 kg of Methamphetamine and 5,000 Ecstasy Pills

The Narcotics and Illicit Drugs Unit of the Bengkalis Resort Police, Riau Province, has seized 8 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine and 5,000 ecstasy pills from three suspects arrested in different locations. Head of the Bengkalis Police Narcotics Unit, AKP Tidar Laksono, stated that the arrests were made at three sites: Bantan District in Bengkalis Regency, the Fruit Market in Pekanbaru City, and Senggoro Village in Bengkalis District. The case came to light following a public tip-off on Monday (6/7) regarding suspicious activity believed to be linked to a narcotics transaction in the Bantan District area of Bengkalis. Acting on the information, the team conducted an investigation and managed to stop and secure a man with the initials DT. During a search of the vehicle he was using, officers found eight large packages suspected to contain methamphetamine and one large package suspected to contain ecstasy, stored inside a black bag in the car. Based on the initial examination, officers then expanded the operation to Pekanbaru City and successfully apprehended a second suspect with the initials F. Further development of the case led officers to arrest a third suspect, identified as A, in the Senggoro Village area of Bengkalis District. The three suspects, along with all the evidence, were then taken to the Bengkalis Police Headquarters for further investigation. Urine tests conducted on the three suspects during the investigation returned negative results for methamphetamine. The suspects are charged with violating provisions under Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. The Head of the Narcotics Unit appealed to the entire community to jointly combat the abuse and illicit trafficking of narcotics by increasing awareness of their surroundings. The public is urged not to hesitate to report any activity suspected of being related to narcotics abuse or trafficking.
