The Bengkalis Police Resort in Riau Province has carried out the destruction of narcotics evidence consisting of 30.6 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (shabu-shabu), 122,459 ecstasy pills, and 384 pieces of etomidate, with an estimated total value of Rp80 billion.

“This step serves as a form of public information transparency and as an accountability measure for the police force to ensure that all evidence seized during enforcement is destroyed in accordance with applicable legal procedures and regulations,” stated Bengkalis Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Fahrian Saleh Siregar, in a statement received in Pekanbaru on Thursday.

According to him, the exposure of this illegal drug circulation is estimated to have saved at least 279,893 lives from the dangers of illicit drug abuse.

“This enforcement is a significant achievement, considering that the Bengkalis region is frequently used as an entry point and transit route for these illegal networks,” he added.

During the destruction ceremony, which was witnessed by various members of the regional leadership coordination forum and relevant agencies in the Bengkalis Regency, Fahrian emphasised that his officers would not allow any space for drug networks to expand.

Consequently, the police are calling on all elements of society to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking in their surrounding environments.

“The destruction of dozens of kilograms of methamphetamine and hundreds of thousands of ecstasy pills is a concrete step by the Bengkalis Police to break the chain of illegal drug trafficking. The police ensure they will continue to be present and act firmly to realise a Bengkalis Regency that is safe, healthy, and drug-free,” he said.

The Head of the Narcotics Criminal Unit of the Bengkalis Police, Assistant Commissioner Tidar Laksono, stated that the exposure of these illegal drug trafficking cases took place at two different locations on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.

The first case occurred in Selat Baru Village, Bantan District, and the second was in the motorcycle queue area of the Air Putih Roro Port in Bengkalis, Air Putih Village, Bengkalis District.

“The exposure began with information from the community regarding a vehicle suspected of carrying narcotics in the Selat Baru Village area, Bantan District. A joint team from the Bantan Police and the Bengkalis Police Narcotics Unit then conducted an investigation and detained two suspects with the initials M and HI,” he said.
