The Bengkalis Police narcotics unit has dismantled a drug network, arresting three suspects and seizing a significant quantity of narcotics. The suspects, identified as DT (23), F (21), and A (22), were apprehended on Monday (6/7) in three different locations within the Bengkalis and Pekanbaru areas. Bengkalis Police Narcotics Chief AKP Tidar Laksono stated that the operation began with a public tip-off regarding suspicious activity suspected to be a drug transaction in the Bantan District. Following an investigation, officers stopped a vehicle and detained DT. A search of the vehicle uncovered eight large packages believed to contain methamphetamine and one large package believed to contain ecstasy, all stored inside a black bag. The investigation led officers to Pekanbaru, where they arrested the second suspect, F. The third suspect, A, was subsequently arrested in Senggoro Village, Bengkalis. In addition to the narcotics, police confiscated a Daihatsu Sigra car, a Honda Scoopy motorcycle, four mobile phones, and a black bag. Urine tests conducted on the three suspects returned negative results for drug use. The suspects are being charged under Indonesia’s Narcotics Law. AKP Tidar Laksono emphasised that the Bengkalis Police remain committed to eradicating drug trafficking networks, in line with the Riau Police Chief’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics. Bengkalis Police Chief AKBP Fahrian Saleh Siregar called on the public to actively participate in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking by remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activity to the police via the 110 hotline.
