Beng Seng murder case goes to trial
JAKARTA (JP): The North Jakarta district court yesterday began the trial of two suspects accused of killing entertainment businessman Nyo Beng Seng, despite the absence of five other suspects who are still at large.
Presiding judge James Pardede told the panel of judges that Sudartono, 40, and Agiono, 36, along with their five friends, killed Nyo Beng Seng, alias Darmansyah Suyadi, at his house on Jl. Pluit Kencana Raya 128 in Pluit at 1:30 a.m. on April 15, 1994.
After a brutal stabbing, Beng Seng died later at a nearby hospital.
The five fugitives, identified as Ahak, Barky, Agus, Yudi and Pramono, and the two suspects in custody, may have been hired by someone called Hong Lie to carry out the killing.
The trial was adjourned until Thursday. (bsr)
