BEM UI Demonstration at Bundaran HI Today, Motorists Advised to Avoid Sudirman-Thamrin Area
The University of Indonesia Student Executive Board (BEM UI) is scheduled to hold a demonstration in the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI) area, Central Jakarta, today, Friday (12/6/2026). Police are urging motorists to avoid the road segment in anticipation of lengthy traffic jams. Based on information gathered, the mass action is expected to commence at 10.00 WIB. Given the protest’s location in the heart of the capital, the potential for traffic density is predicted to have a broad impact on the mobility of residents around Central Jakarta. “Please be informed of potential traffic congestion at the following location: Bundaran HI area (Central Jakarta). Congestion is expected on the road sections around Jl. Sudirman-Thamrin,” wrote the official account of TMC Polda Metro Jaya on Friday (12/6). Field officers have mapped several points that will be directly affected by the concentration of students, including the Sudirman-Thamrin corridor. Residents heading to the Central Jakarta area or passing through the Sudirman-Thamrin route are advised to seek alternative routes from the morning. Motorists from the south (Blok M) can use routes via Jalan Galunggung or Jalan Rasuna Said. Meanwhile, from the north, motorists can be diverted via Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur or Jalan Perwira. Police are asking the public to comply with the directions of officers in the field. “Motorists are advised to avoid the road sections around this area or seek alternative routes for mutual safety and smooth traffic flow,” added TMC Polda Metro.
