BEM UI Delivers Orations at Tosari, Central Jakarta

Students from the University of Indonesia’s Student Executive Board (BEM UI) and the National Student Front (FMN) held a demonstration in the Jalan Sudirman area of Central Jakarta. They brought eight demands, ranging from ending corruption, collusion, and nepotism to declaring a national disaster status for the Sumatra and Flores regions.

According to monitoring at the location on Tuesday (18/8/2026), the demonstrators began arriving at 1.53 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. The crowd brought a command vehicle, followed by demonstrators on foot.

The demonstrators intended to hold the protest at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout. However, they were halted before reaching the Tosari bus stop.

The students arrived wearing yellow and green university jackets. They also carried banners bearing their demands and flags with their organisations’ emblems. The students participating in the demonstration took turns delivering orations.

As a result of the protest, traffic on Jalan Sudirman from Dukuh Atas to the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout was closed. Passing vehicles were diverted.
