BEM KM IPB Resigns from the BEM SI Alliance

The Student Executive Body of the IPB Student Family (BEM KM IPB) has resigned from the All-Indonesia BEM Alliance. BEM KM IPB Student President Muhammad Abdan Rofi stated that the decision to resign is based on the results of an evaluation of the movement.

“As an accumulation of reflective movement and strengthening of the fundamental basis of the IPB student movement,” he said in an official statement on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.

He added that the resignation decision is supported by the results of consolidation with the Faculty BEMs at IPB. However, Abdan has not yet explained the details of the various considerations as the basis for the resignation.

Quoted from the Instagram of BEM KM IPB @bemkmipb, the resignation decision was taken through a consensus deliberation of the IPB BEM Alliance. “With strategic and comprehensive considerations,” the official statement of BEM KM IPB reads on 7 April 2026, quoted on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.

BEM KM IPB assesses that this decision is the right choice in order to strengthen the nodes of the movement and optimise the role of BEM IPB. “In representing students and the people,” the letter states.

BEM KM IPB understands the alliance as an ecosystem to align various perspectives on the movement. For BEM KM IPB, this decision does not constitute an assessment of any particular party. “But rather as a logical consequence of differing orientations that are constantly evolving,” he said.

BEM KM IPB also appreciates the entire process of collaboration, exchange of ideas, and dynamics of joint struggle with the BEM SI Alliance. “That becomes an important part of collective learning as part of the student movement,” he said.

The BEM SI Alliance is a national network that unites BEMs from hundreds of campuses in Indonesia, founded on 24 December 2007. The current Chair of the BEM SI Alliance is Muzammil Ihsan.
