BEM Bersatu Alleges Activist Tiyo Ardiyanto Has Ties to PDIP Figures and Ex-Ganjar Campaign Team
A student alliance known as BEM Bersatu has declared its opposition to student movements that are allegedly manipulated by practical political interests. BEM Bersatu has also accused one of the protest leaders, Tiyo Ardianto, of being close to certain political networks.
Rahmat Djimbula, a representative of BEM Bersatu and Chairman of the UIC Faculty of Law Student Executive Board, claimed there are links between Tiyo and a retired TNI officer.
“One of the protest leaders, Tiyo Ardianto, is alleged to have closeness to certain political networks. The Fortuner vehicle he uses is allegedly registered under the name of Siti Nuraeni, the sister of Retired Lieutenant General Setyo Sularso, who is the in-law of Retired General Andhika Perkasa, a figure from Ganjar Pranowo’s winning team in the 2024 Presidential Election. This allegation is further strengthened by the presence of PDI Perjuangan politician Andi Widjajanto amidst the protesters,” Rahmat stated during a press conference in Utan Kayu, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (16/06/2026).
Rahmat cited alleged connections by pointing to Tiyo’s presence at a national dialogue event. That event reportedly included several prominent figures, namely Said Didu, Roy Suryo, Refly Harun, and dr Tifa.
“The connection is also reinforced by Tiyo Ardianto’s presence at the National National Dialogue in Bandung on 18 June 2026, alongside several figures such as Said Didu, Roy Suryo, Refly Harun, and dr Tifa. In the same forum, Retired Lieutenant General Setyo Sularso was also recorded as present, indicating a network that warrants close scrutiny,” he said.
During the occasion, the BEM Bersatu alliance issued several demands, namely:
Urging the sterilisation of student movements from funding, facilities, and all forms of practical political intervention.
Supporting the continuity of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme, provided there are improvements in governance to ensure it is targeted and accountable.
Supporting the thorough investigation of corruptors without discrimination and inviting all Indonesian students to monitor the legal process critically and objectively.
