BEM Alliance to Protest at DPR Building Today, Beware of Potential Traffic Hotspots

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Two demonstrations will take place in the Central Jakarta area on Wednesday (15/4/2026) today.

The Head of Public Relations for the Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, stated that the first demonstration will be held at 10:00 WIB on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir.

“This morning, there is a protest from the alliance of the Bekasi Workers and People’s Union,” said Erlyn in her written statement.

A total of 512 police personnel have been deployed for security during the demonstrations in Central Jakarta today.

Meanwhile, traffic engineering at the demonstration points will be carried out situationally, taking into account the number of people on the ground.

Erlyn advised the public to avoid the areas around the protests to anticipate traffic congestion.

“Residents can look for other alternative routes while the protest is ongoing,” said Erlyn.
